Chair ESOT ID Taskforce. Past chair of the ESCMID Study Group on infections in Immunocompromised Host and the past Chair of the ID Council of ISHLT. Responsible for the ID chapter of the Guide on Quality and Safety of Organs for Transplantation of the Council of Europe Paolo Grossi is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Insubria in Varese, Italy. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Milano (Italy), attended the residency program on Infectious Diseases at the University of Pavia (Italy), and received his post-doctoral degree on Preventive and Community Medicine. Visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1993-1994). Since the year 2000 he has been professor of Infectious Diseases and director of the residency programs in Infectious Diseases and in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. Director of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit of the Ospedale di Circolo and Fondazione Macchi of Varese, Italy, where, since April 2009 he has been the Director of the Department of Transplantation.
